Remember in elementary school when everyone was worried about catching cooties from the opposite sex? That was a simpler time. Now we have to worry about catching cooties and eating flesh.
In this horror-comedy, a group of teachers are trapped in a school when a mysterious virus breaks out amongst the youth from tainted chicken nuggets. As they try to escape, they realize that their only way to survive is to take out the kids that are trying to kill them. Being teachers, this won’t be too hard smashing faces in.
This movie is a scream, both in the sense that it’s funny and brilliant, and also at times fairly intense. It balances out the humor quite well amongst the rising sense of dream of how far this virus has spread. Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer and Elijah Wood steal the show from each other multiple times throughout.
Though at some points, the dialogue gets even too childish for my tastes. Lots of gay bashing and toilet humor, and it gets tiresome. But to keep this review short and sweet, it doesn’t ruin the experience overall.
If you enjoy gore, laughs and the occasional jolt, you’ll definitely want to catch Cooties, it was a blast and will probably be on my yearly viewing schedule.
